Ararat Basil Seeds
Ararat basil is also called
Ararat sweet basil and is known for its bright green and purple leaves and sweet flavor with a hint of licorice. This popular but hard to find heirloom frequently wins taste tests of
purple basils.
The bushy
Ararat Basil plant can grow up to 18” tall, making this culinary delight an extremely beautiful addition to the garden.
Ararat's purple green leaves are about 2"long and have a lovely toothed edge. Small purple flowers grow on the basil spikes and should be removed as they take too much energy away from the plant and can effect the flavor.
This
basil is a great addition to soups, salads, pestos, tomato dishes and pasta sauces.
As with all
basils, you can also use this basil in the garden as a natural insecticide to repel aphids, mites, and tomato horn worms.
