Arnica Seeds

Arnica, also known as Arnica montana, Leafy Arnica, European Arnica, Leopard's Bane, Mountain Tobacco, Mountain Snuff and Sneezewort, is native to the mountains of Siberia and Europe.

Arnica is a protected species in some countries and is becoming a rare plant, largely due to increasingly intensive agriculture.

Arnica is used in many ointments and liniments to treat strains, sprains, and bruises. It is also a popular remedy for homeopaths for similar ailments. Some physicians recommended internal use for depression, dyspnea, typhoid, pneumonias, anemia, diarrhea, and cardiac weakness.

Individuals sensitive to sesquiterpenes of the helenalin type may develop contact dermatitis from topical applications of arnica preparations- so, caution should be used.

CAUTION: Arnica contains the toxin helenalin, which can be poisonous if large amounts of the plant are eaten. Contact with the plant can also cause skin irritation.
