Ashwaganda Seeds

Ashwaganda, also known as Indian Ginseng and Withania is native Southern Asia, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Ashwaganda gets its name from a Hindi word meaning "horse's smell". The Hindi word reflects the the smell of a horse exuded by the plant along with the uses of the plant as a source of "strength". Ashwaganda is very popular in Ayurvedic medicine- it is used as a strengthening tonic for general weakness, rheumatism, insomnia, infertility, impotence and "weakness of the mind". In Africa, the root of the Ashwaganda plant is used as a sedative

Ashwaganda is visually similar to the tomato plant; it too bears yellow flowers and has a red colored fruit. However, the fruit of the Ashwaganda plant is berrylike in size and shape.
