Boneset Seeds
Boneset, is known as
Thoroughwort, Feverwort, Agueweed, Indian Sage and Snakeroot and is native to East Asia, such as China, Korea, Japan, and East Siberia.
Boneset is a perennial plant found in swampy areas and along stream banks in eastern North America. The rough, hairy stem grows to a height of 1 to 5 feet from a horizontal, crooked rootstock. The leaves are rough, serrate, and taper to a long point. White flowers appear in August and September. The plant has only a weak odor but a very bitter taste.
The unique leaf characteristics of
Boneset make this plant an unusual specimen, worth having in a collectors garden. It's 8" fluffy white flower heads look great mixed in with other flowers or as a background pant.
Boneset isn't really used to treat broken bones, but it is nonetheless an excellent remedy for colds and congestion.
Boneset has been used for strengthening the immune system. It works by raising the body temperature so the body burns off infection and bacteria. Other medicinal uses of
Bonset include dengue fever, arthritis, certain infectious diseases, migraine, intestinal worms, malaria, and diarrhea.
Boneset infusions are also considered an excellent remedy for influenza.
