These wiry stemmed wild flowers provide attractive, bright golden, yellow and mahogany color to your garden. They are great en masse in an annual border and their long stems make them great for cutting.
Calliopsis are native to the southern United States and have spread throughout much of North America.
These flowers really do not require thinning as they appear to support each other by growing close together.
Calliopsis have a long bloom season and look very beautiful with ornamental grasses and other wild flowers.
Collecting the seeds of these lovely wildflowers is easy. The pods will develop at the base of the flower turning from mahogany to dull tan at maturity. Once they are dry simply strip them off the plants. Allow the pods to dry on an open plate for a few more days, then crumble the pods and the tiny seeds come out!
