Cayenne Chili Peppers are a hot chili used in Mexican, Cajun, Indonesian and Thai cooking. Cayenne Peppers are used in cooking spicy dishes and should be used sparingly.

Traditionally, these peppers were grown in Mexico and South America and were used as food and medicine for a least the last seven thousand years!

Cayenne is a good source of Vitamins A, B6, C, K and Manganese. It is also known to be powerful in many health therapies including: as an anti-inflammatory, to relieve arthritic pain, reduce cholesterol and to boost the immune system.

Cayenne Chili Peppers are one of the components of Tabasco sauce and ginger ale.

This pepper was originally named for the city of Cayenne in french Guinana. They can grow in a variety of locations and prefers warm moist conditions and nutrient rich soil. The plants can overwinter if they are protected from frost.

Try adding Cayenne to your marinades, sauces, hummus, guacamole, omelets, curries, seafood, chili and even hot chocolate!
