Lobelia Seeds
Lobelia, also known as
Lobelia inflata, is native to warm, temperate, and tropical regions.
Lobelia has a long history of use in herbal medicine for respiratory ailments such as asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, and cough. Historically, Native Americans smoked lobelia as a treatment for asthma.
The names "Puke Weed" or "Gag Weed" was given to this herb by American physicians because they would prescribe
Lobelia to cause vomiting to remove toxins from the body.
Dried
Lobelia tastes and smells similar to tobacco, and is often used as a tobacco substitute. The plant material is also burned as a natural bug repellent to keep away insects such as mosquitoes.
