Mandan Bride Corn Seeds
The beautiful multi-colored
Mandan Bride Corn was collected from the Mandan Indians in North Dakota and Minnesota.
The story of the origination of the
Mandan Corn is that it was bred for flavor and nutrition (by the Mandan Indian tribes of North Dakota), not for its ability to produce the most kernels of corn on an acre, like commercial hybrids.
This
corn variety produces 6" to 8" ears with a stunning calico combination of a multitude of colors (purple, white, red, yellow), including some striped kernels.
Mandan Bride Corn can be used as a flour corn or an ornamental.
Mandan Bride is said to make the most delicious cornmeal and the cornmeal made from this corn variety can be used anywhere that calls for cornmeal.
