Money Plant Seeds

The Money plant is a plant that looks good at all stages. The flower provides an enjoyable splash of color in early spring before other flowers get going. Later the abundant purple flowers produce silvery white transparent seed pods that make an outstanding addition to flower arrangements.

The various stages of beauty the Money Plant plant goes through have earned it it's various names. It's common name, Silver Dollar Plant comes from the dried fruit, called silicles. When dried, the green outer covering peels off to reveal the silvery translucent "silver dollars." This flower provides an enjoyable splash of color in early spring before other flowers get going. Later the abundant purple flowers produce silvery white transparent seed pods that make an outstanding addition to flower arrangements.

It is believed that if you give this plant or its seeds as a gift the recipient will be blessed with good luck and wealth with money!

The Legend of the Money Plant
The legend is that there was an old, poor, and hard-working farmer who lived in a small valley and was very superstitious. He found a small, unusual plant one day when he went out to the field, and never having seen anything like it before, he dug it up and took it home with him. Little did he know how resilient and hard to uproot the tree was. He took a lesson from the tree, deciding to be stubborn, hard working and never give up on the things he strove to work for. Before too long he became a wealthy businessman.
