New Guinea Basil Seeds
New Guinea basil is both ornamental and useful making it a favorite of world famous chefs. The spicy mint flavor and licorice aroma of this
basil make it popular in any culinary dish or dessert that calls for
basil.
This
basil is a highly attractive, garden standout with purple flowers and purple-veined, dark green, aromatic foliage. Similar in appearance to
African Blue Basil, the leaf tops are dark green brushed with dark purple. The leaf veins and undersides are also dark purple. The leaves have a strong, sweet licorice aroma with a little mint and spice. All parts of this plant are heavily anise-scented.
New Guinea Basil makes excellent ornamental potted plant or mix with edible marigolds.
As with all
basils, you can also use this basil in the garden as a natural insecticide to repel aphids, mites, and tomato horn worms.
