Centennial Hops
Centennial is a relatively new variety of
hopsreleased in 1990.
Centennial is a hybrid and dual purpose
hop developed by Charles Zimmermann at Washington State University. It is a mid-season maturing vigorous hop.
The
Centennial variety of
hops was bred to be both a higher alpha and an aroma variety. Many microbrewers appreciate
Cantennial for its unique flavor. Being "dual purpose" hop,
Centennial can be used for both bittering and flavor/aroma. As a bittering hop,
Cantennial lends a crisp citrus bite. As a aroma hop,
Centennial provides citrus floral aroma.
Centennial is one of the "Three Cs" along with Cascade and Columbus
