Queensland Blue Squash Seeds

This popular Australian heirloom was introduced to the US in 1932 and is sometimes called the Australian Blue Pumpkin.

The Queensland Blue Squash is a striking blue colored, turban shaped fruit with a flavorful, sweet golden colored flesh. It is a great tasting roasting pumpkin or can be used in soups.

This squash produces fruits weighing 12-20 pounds. Queensland Blue Squash squash stores well and can be stored in a cool, dry location for 1-6 months.

Soil Requirements: acidic to neutral soil.
Propagation Methods: Sow seeds directly to soil after last frost. Plant in rows, 5-8 feet in both directions, sowing 1 seed every 6-12 inches. Or, plant in hills, 5 seeds per hill, with the hills 6-8 feet apart. Thin for the best three plants. Harvest in the autumn when the skins are too tough to be punctured easily with a thumbnail.
Other Details: Moderate water needs. Water regularly but do not over-water. This plant attracts bees, butterflies and birds.
