Riesentraube Tomato Seeds
The
Riesentraube Tomato
is a very sweet and high producing Heirloom Tomato.
The
Riesentraube Tomato
, whose name means "Giant Bunch of Grapes" in German, is a classic Heirloom Tomato variety. These Tomatoes made their way to Philadelphia in the mid 1800-s from Germany. They were, and continue to be, very popular among the Pennsylvania Dutch.
Riesentraube
is known to produce very large yields of 1" tomatoes that grow in clusters of 20-40. One of this Tomatoes most outstanding and well known features is the large number of tiny flowers it produces prior to the tomato fruit: up to 350 flowers per cluster!
The small tomatoes have an excellent and full flavor that is frequently compared to that of a beefsteak tomato.
Riesentraube Tomatoes
are great for snacks, dried and on salads.For something new, try making some delicious Tomato Wine!

Propagation Methods:
Can be started from seed directly to soil or from transplant. From transplant, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost.Sow 2-3 seeds per pot and thin to one plant per container. Transplants should not be set outside any sooner than 3 weeks after last frost. Plants should be set out on a cloudy day or late in the afternoon to decrease the risk of stress.
