Jalapeno Chili Pepper Seeds
Jalapeno Peppers
are a very popular pepper with excellent flavor. These peppers get their name from the town Xalapa (also spelled Jalapa) in Mexico where they were traditionally produced. Today, 160 square kilometers are dedicated to
Jalapeno Pepper
cultivation in Mexico and 22 square kilometers in The United States.
Throughout Mexico,
Jalaleno Peppers
are known by different names such as huachinango and chili gordo.
A single
Jalapeno
plant will generally produce 25 to 35 pods. During a growing season each plant will be picked multiple times. Peppers are usually picked when they are still green and they will gradually ripen to red. The peppers can be eaten green or red.
The excellent flavor of these peppers makes them one of the best known and most widely used.
Jalapeno's
are great on nachos, pizzas, fresh or pickled.
The heat level of
Jalapeno Peppers
varies from mild to hot depending on how the peppers are cultivated and prepared.
