sweet basil with more licorice and cinnamon flavor. This
basil is annual like
sweet basil so the flowers must be pinched off to keep leaf production going.
Purple Ruffles Basil is at its best when shown off fresh in salads, particularly Italian Caprese Salad with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes with good fruity extra-virgin olive oil and a high quality balsamic vinegar.
As with all
basils, you can also use this basil in the garden as a natural insecticide to repel aphids, mites, and tomato horn worms.
