Snow Pea Seeds

Snow Peas, like snap peas are a variety of pea eaten whole in its pod while still unripe. The name mangetout (French for "eat all") can apply both to snow peas and to snap peas. The difference is that snow peas have a flat rather than round pod.

The name "snow peas" probably comes from the whitish tint these peas get on their pods- or, because of their tendency to grow at the end of winter, just before the last spring freeze, causing them to be frequently covered in snow (but they still keep growing well)! Snow peas are one of the earliest-known cultivated plants! There is evidence them being cultivated in a region that along the Thailand-Burma border, 12,000 years ago!

Snow peas host beneficial bacteria, that fix nitrogen in the soil and are therefore a useful companion plant, especially for growing intercropped with green, leafy vegetables that benefit from high nitrogen content in their soil.
