Trinidad Scorpion Butch T Pepper Seeds
NEW!
As of June 4 2011, the official
Guinness World’s Record for
hottest pepper has been updated and recognizes the
Trinidad Scorpion “Butch T” as the hottest pepper in the world!
The
Trinidad Scorpion Butch T Pepper is a Capsicum chinense pepper. This
hot pepper is derived from the
Trinidad Scorpion Pepper, which is indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago. The
Trinidad Scorpion Butch T Pepper is named after
Butch Taylor, the owner of a Zydeco hot sauce company who is responsible for propagating the pepper's seeds.
We are proud to offer seeds from the original strain of Australian grown
Trinidad Scorpion Butch T Pepper seeds supplied by The Hippy Seed Company. These are the seeds used to grow the award winning 1,463,700 SHU
ButchT Trinidad Scorpions.
The "scorpion" peppers are referred to as such because the pointed end of the pepper is said to resemble a scorpion's stinger.
Use
great caution when growing and handling these peppers. Wear gloves when handling and be very conservative in using them as a spice- it is said that one seed from the
Trinidad Scorpion Butch T can induce intense physical pain for up to 30 minutes.
Storage of Pepper Seeds:
Store seeds away from children (the seeds themselves can be hot when in contact with skin or consumed!). Keep
pepper seeds sealed in their packaging and in a cool, dry, dark place, or in a fridge. Never store them in a freezer as the sudden temperature drop is likely to kill them. Do not leave
pepper seeds in direct sunlight as the heat generated may also kill them or decrease their germination rate.
Please see our article on Pepper Growing Tips for more information on planting and growing Peppers from seed BEFORE starting these seeds to increase your chance of germination!
